MOMS (Mwelase Opencast Mining)

MOMS (Mwelase Opencast Mining Services) is the result of the realisation of one of the group’s strategic goals to developing its own mining capability and operates as an independent mining contractor.

MOM owns enough machinery to mine approximately 2,5m cubes of material per month. One of the key strategic goals for the near term future is to establish itself a and important role player in the mining contracting business.

Rietvlei Colliery

Rietvlei (RMC (Rietvlei Mining Company)) is a co-owned resource with Butsanani and Emalangeni resources.

Since the commencement of operations in 2018, the mine has developed to mine approximately 300Kt per month of ROM. Rietvlei have installed processing capacity of a 750tph crashing and screening plant, 225tph coal processing facility.

Mwelase is the appointed managing partner in the business responsible for all the operations of the colliery. RMC supplies product to Eskom, domestic and export market

Mzimkhulu Mining

Mzimkhulu should be viewed as a mining complex. The associated plant/processing capacity at the mine is a 700tph C&S plant and a 120tph wash plant. We are in the process of adding to the resource base of the reserve. The addition of more than 10 million tons will unlock significant value to all the stakeholders.

The mine is 100% owned and operated by the Mwelase group. The maximum production capacity is approximately 410kt per month. The mine primarily supplies products to Eskom and export markets.

Mwelase Processing

Mwelase processing was established in 2018 (as a wholly owned subsidiary) with the strategic view of building up a substantive company that owns and operates coal processing facilities. The current operating capacity of the business is two (2) 750tph C&S facilities and 120tph washing capacity.

Mwelase processing is leading the process to optimise the Mzimkhulu complex coal processing capacity by re-designing, building and operating the 120tph Mgayo coal washing facility.
